Every Wednesday until further notice at 8.30pm BST we will be running a quiz via Facebook Live on our Facebook page, hosted by Marcus Berkmann.
Get your team together and find a way to communicate – zoom, houseparty, WhatsApp, talking to them etc etc.
Then go to the Nightwatchman Facebook page here or here just before 8.30pm on Wednesday evening and you will see Marcus reading 20 questions – 13 of them general knowledge and 7 of them cricket-based (or thereabouts). There will also be a tie-breaker question at the end, in case two or more teams tie for first place.
It’ll take about half an hour and then Marcus will give you 15 minutes to email in your answer sheets to firstname.lastname@example.org
We will then post a list of scores on the Nightwatchman Facebook page here.
The winners (we are assuming teams of four, but really it’s however many you want) will receive four copies of the Best of the First Five Years of the Nightwatchman (or a similar prize) posted out to four addresses your team provides.
As ever, no cheating allowed. We’ll just know. And so will you.
The quiz has been set up to inform and entertain but also to raise funds for the PINCH HITTER, a fortnightly digital magazine set up to help the cricket-writing freelance community, whose work has pretty much dried up.
For the magazine to survive, the publishers (who have sacrificed a decent chunk of their own salaries) are reliant on donations and people respecting the pay-what-you-can model.
To take part in the quiz, we’d love it if people could do the same, and we recommend £2.50 per person, or £10 a team. Please give generously – the freelance community is hugely appreciative, but the publishers are currently having to turn down hundreds of pitches as they do not have the resources to cope at present.
And if you can’t afford to donate, that’s not a problem at all. To show you what the magazine is all about, here are the first four issues of the PINCH HITTER and a link to donate.
If you have any questions please email email@example.com.
