Myths, legends and pre-historic cricket bats

As part of the humanities festival Being Human 2017, historian and The Nightwatchman author Tom Holland hosts a lecture exploring the case of the Piltdown Man and his cricket bat at the School of Advanced Studies.

One of history’s greatest hoaxes, what can this case tell us about myths of national identity, our desire to explore our origins, and the mythic power of cricket itself?

This lecture follows on from Tom Holland’s piece about the Piltdown Man in issue 6 of The Nightwatchman.
